I’m no stranger to the aisles at kitchen supply stores. While I can spend hours thinking up uses for the cool, inventive cooking tools, my Visa statement at the end of the month isn’t fun to look at after one too many shopping trips. That’s why every time I go on vacation to visit my family in Japan, I set an entire afternoon aside to visit my favorite housewares store in Shibuya: Loft. Even my husband, who would normally rather be sampling Suntory whiskies and eating squid snacks at an izakaya, pitches in and gets into the quest to find useful and cute kitchen-wares that don’t cost an arm and a leg. We go aisle by aisle, floor-by-floor – and end up filling up that extra empty suitcase we brought from home with colorful flexible cutting boards, colanders and mixing bowls that would cost triple if bought in New York.
I’m very excited to be teaming up with my friends at Architec who are offering my readers (that’s you!) the chance to win some amazing design conscious, budget conscious (and Earth conscious!) kitchen tools to help you get the job at mealtime done – all while looking good in the process!

The Holdbowl is a mixing bowl with a stretchy handle designed to be held three different ways for comfort and dexterity – allowing you to fit your hands in to the handle for added support when cradling the bowl for whisking, mixing, pouring and scraping. Have a blast creating layered, gourmet appetizers in a flash with the Five Minute Stackable Appetizer Maker and included recipe book. The Ecosmart Polyflax Serving Bowl and Serving Spoons are good to the Earth – made in the USA from translucent recycled plastic with suspended pieces of flask husk.
